Bolton planning stunning transfer swoop for Real Madrid star
Bolton boss Gary Megson is making a sensational bid to sign Real Madrid legend Guti on loan for the rest of the season.
Megson is trying to persuade the Spanish giants to let their long-serving midfielder leave - and talk the 33-year-old into following in the footsteps of Ivan Campo and Fernando Hierro.
Guti is out of favour at the Bernabeu since a row with coach Manuel Pellegrini three months ago. He was suspended and told he could find a new club.
The veteran star, who has only played for Real in his illustrious career, could now be tempted away - and will be offered the chance of Premier League football at the Reebok.
Megson thinks the ambitious move is worth a try and the club's money men are backing him. Guti would cost around £2million in wages for half-a-season, but it could be good value.
Bolton made a habit of landing ageing superstars a few years ago, but Megson has been happier to use the more tried and trusted players in the market - until hearing that Guti could go.
It would be a massive coup for Bolton to bring off the deal, bringing some glamour to their survival struggle and makiing up for the loss of Sean Davis.
Megson admits that the injury to Davis has hit his plans for the campaign and that his priority is to replace that creation in a hard-working side.
Guti will be invited for talks and a look round the club's highly-rated facilities. He will also be given a strong recommendation about the club and the area by Campo and Hierro.
Bolton hope to pull off the deal quickly to get Guti on board and playing after his own stop-start season and they will be attempting to get him in at the beginning of the month rather than at the end.

On Dec 17 Valencia CF beat Genoa 2-1 and made it through to the knockout stages of the Europa League!
